About the Pine Bark Recipe

This recipe, known as “Pine Bark”, is a Christmas tradition that Christi learned from the Paula Deen Show while in college in the early 2000s. It’s a simple yet delicious treat that brings joy to the holiday season.

Ingredients

  • A sleeve of saltine crackers
  • One cup of butter
  • One cup of brown sugar
  • A teaspoon of vanilla
  • Six Hershey bars
  • Optional: Sea salt or Christmas sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Line a 15 by 10 jelly roll pan with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange a sleeve of saltine crackers on the pan.
  3. Prepare a mixture of one cup of butter and one cup of brown sugar by boiling it for two to three minutes.
  4. Remove the mixture from the heat and add a teaspoon of vanilla.
  5. Pour the mixture over the crackers in the pan and spread evenly.
  6. Place the pan in a 400-degree oven and bake for four to six minutes.
  7. While the pan is in the oven, unwrap six Hershey bars.
  8. Once the pan is out of the oven, place the Hershey bars on top of the hot mixture and let them melt.
  9. Spread the melted Hershey bars evenly over the crackers.
  10. Add optional toppings like sea salt or Christmas sprinkles.
  11. Let the mixture cool and then cut into squares.
